Registration Schedule by Classification

If you attended Spring 2017, Summer 2017, or Fall 2017 semesters, you are eligible to register.*

All others, Apply for Admission

  • Early Registration: November 9, 2017 – January 16, 2018
  • Late Registration: January 17, 2018 – January 26, 2018 ($25 late registration fee applies per campus)

Registration by Classification

Registration dates are determined by your current classification at the time of registration.  Classifications are determined by the completion of credits as depicted below:

Freshman Successful completion of 1 – 28 credits
Sophomore Successful completion of 29 – 60 credits
Junior Successful completion of 61 – 90 credits
Senior Successful completion of 91 + credits

Below is the classification sequence to determine your beginning registration date.  Students who do not register on their designated date can register at any time in the remaining classification sequence and registration. View the class schedule.

SENIOR CITIZENS (New Mexico residents who are 65 or older may attend New Mexico State University at a reduced tuition rate. Individuals must apply and qualify for this program through the Registrar’s Office on the first day of class. The Senior Citizen Waiver can be found under the Forms tab on the Registrar’s website.)
