Unofficial Transcripts are available at no charge from the Registrar’s Office. Unofficial transcripts contain the same information as official transcripts, including coursework, grades, and degrees earned. However, unofficial transcripts are printed on plain paper and do not have the NMSU seal or the registrar’s signature.

You can order an unofficial transcript by e-mail (, fax (575-646-1579), or in person at the Registrar’s Office (located in the Educational Services Building). Please be sure to include:

  • Name and Phone Number
  • Aggie ID or last four digits of your SSN
  • Birthdate (month and date)
  • Request for an unofficial transcript
  • Please provide the fax and/or email of the location where you wish the unofficial transcript to be sent
  • YOUR SIGNATURE AND DATE (scanned and attached/cut and paste)

Orders placed at the Registrar’s Office are printed on demand.

An official transcript is the University’s certified statement of your complete NMSU academic record, including coursework, grades, and degrees earned. Credit hours earned through transfer work are not listed in detail, but do appear as cumulative totals.

Whether delivered as a digitally signed PDF or a printed copy, the official transcript includes features that ensure the authenticity and security of the document.

  • eTranscripts (Electronic Transcripts) are delivered to any valid email address via secure, certified PDF. Cost is $10.
  • Printed Transcripts are delivered by first-class mail or UPS Next Day delivery or can be picked up at the Registrar’s Office. Cost is $12.25.

Orders shipped by UPS Next Day are assessed an additional charge.

An Apostille confirms that a document is authentic (or apostilled). Apostilles are most often needed by students who are working outside the United States of America and international students. The Registrar’s Office offers notary services for official transcripts, diplomas, and enrollment verifications.

When the request is received, the Registrar’s Office, will print the requested document(s), procure the signature of the Registrar and notarize it. The document(s) and notary statement will be mailed first class back to the specified address. The recipient will then need to send the information to the State of New Mexico Secretary’s Office for the Apostille.

The Apostille process does take some time, both to produce the original document and for you to send and receive your documents from the State of New Mexico. Begin this process as soon as possible.

Official Transcripts

Note: Both current and former students can apply for Notarized official transcripts.

  1. To request a Notarized Transcript for an official transcript, include the following information:
    • A note that this transcript order is to be Notarized. Please make the Notary note very clear!
    • Your name and any former names
    • NMSU ID number or Social Security number
    • Date of birth
    • Your daytime telephone number (in case we have questions)
    • Number of transcripts you want notarized
    • Address to send the notarized transcript. The student is responsible for providing and accurate mailing address to ensure the documents will reach the destination in a timely manner.
    • Your signature
  2. The cost for a notarized transcript is $15 each. Make the check or money order payable to New Mexico State University.
  3. The notarized transcript will be sent to the address you specify by USPS First Class Mail. If you want delivery other than USPS First Class Mail, you must enclose a pre-addressed, pre-paid air bill with your request.
  4. Mail the request and the check/money order to:Registrar’s Office

  5. Student receives, or picks up, the documentation and Apostille Form.
  6. Student prepares the Apostille Form as stated on the website for the Secretary of State indicating where he/she is sending the document.
  7. Student mails the documentation and forms with the check or money order for the fee to the Secretary of State’s Office.
  8. The Apostille is affixed to the transcript by The Secretary of State’s Office and sent to the address indicated by the student in their form.
